Deaconess Hospital Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care for Patients/Families
Deaconess Hospital chaplains provide spiritual care, counseling, and support for patients and families of all denominations. We serve as resources in the crisis of hospitalization by helping families and patients find strength from God to deal with fears, worries, doubts, and questions that may arise in the face of illness. As a member of the Free Methodist Church of North American, our religious beliefs and teachings are based on the fundamentals of the national organization of Free Methodist Church of North America.
Our chaplains are on site and available to all interested persons from 7am-5pm, Monday through Friday, and on an on call basis from 5pm-7am., Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. Please contact a floor nurse or the hospital switchboard .) to contact the chaplain on call.
The chaplains are also available for special ministries such as baptism, the Lord’s Supper, anointing with oil for healing, and prayer/ministry at the time of death.
Chapel Services
The hospital chapel is available at all time for prayer and for meditation, and there are Sunday services held weekly at 10:30am. These services are led by one of our chaplains.
Contact the office for additional information about our services. 405..
Devotional Materials
The Chaplain’s office also provides various devotional materials for patients, families and staff. We feel it is important to encourage spiritual health, and providing devotional materials is one way we do this. Currently we have "Our Daily Bread" a daily devotional, "Light and Life Magazine" a bi-monthly magazine focusing on discipleship and "Guidepost" an inspirational magazine. These materials are placed in the hospital chapel.
The Free Methodist Church
Patients, visitors and families of all beliefs are welcome at Deaconess Hospital. Deaconess Hospital is a ministry of the Free Methodist Church of North America. The chaplain’s office has resources concerning the denomination, and can answer any questions you may have relating to the church, what it believes, what its distinctive are, and the locations and phone numbers of area Free Methodist churches.
Advance Directives
As a courtesy service, Deaconess Hospital chaplains and social workers offer education regarding the Oklahoma Advance Directive for Health Care form. Our staff will explain the use of this document, its purpose, and how to fill it out. Anyone may request this service; you need not be a patient or family member.
