LifeSpine
Lifespine creates a better quality of life for those experiencing lower back problems. It is offered exclusively at Deaconess Outpatient Rehab Services.
If you have degenerative disc disease, a sports or work injury, poor posture or lack of physical activity, this program is designed to help.
Lifespine can bring each person suffering from lower back problems to his or her maximum level of physical activity and function with minimal pain.
Examples of treatment approaches include: pain management, flexibility and stretching exercises, strengthening exercises, spine stabilization training, soft tissue and joint mobilization, biobeedback, movement and positioning strategies and aerobic conditioning/cardiovascular conditioning.
Lymphedema
Lymphedema is the swelling of a body part, usually an arm or leg, that may occur after surgery or radiation therapy for cancer of the breast or pelvic region. Untreated lymphedema may lead to infections, pain or numbness. It can also produce weakness, stiffness, loss of function and impaired body image.
Deaconess Outpatient Rehabilitation Services has two therapists certified in the evaluation and treatment of lymphedema management. Our comprehensive treatment program consists of manual lymph drainage, multi-layered bandaging and education on precautions and exercise of the involved limb.
Lymphedema treatment, even years after lymphedema develops, can reduce size, improve functional use of the involved limb, reduce pain and improve body image. Preventive e care to avoid lymphedema and early treatment if swelling does occur are extremely important. Your therapist can provide information on how to reduce the risk of developing lymphedema.
